Ever since Megan Cecelia was a little girl she has always had a passion for weddings and planning. It all started because her dad, who happens to be a judge, would officiate countless weddings all over her hometown. Sometimes it was a simple ceremony in front of the courthouse and sometimes it was at a lovely cottage on the nearby island. Honestly, it didn’t matter the location though because Megan Cecelia loved every aspect of the wedding day. From flowers to lights to decor, she loved it all! One of her favorite parts of weddings was and still is seeing the beautiful couple surrounded by their friends and family, happy as can be, like a fairytale. That may sound cheesy, but it’s true!

Fast forward to college and Megan Cecelia was pretty sure she wanted to make a career out of her passion for weddings. So she started her first internship with a small wedding company in her hometown. She wanted to spend some time neck-deep in wedding planning to see if it was as amazing as young her had dreamed it was. Then a year later, when her life brought her to a new city, Charleston, SC, she found a new wedding planning company that taught her so much and further confirmed her passion for weddings.

One of her favorite parts about planning weddings is that every conversation with a new couple is like looking at the world through someone else’s eyes. They each have visions of their wedding weekend from the venue to what song they want to play at the end of the night. Not only has that made it absolutely amazing to make their dreams a reality, but to also see how different each wedding is from the last.

After years of experience, Megan Cecelia loves to think of each past wedding as inspiration for the next one. Whether it’s a simple ceremony like those that would have her dad home within an hour or all weekend events that sparked her heart as a little girl. Nowadays when she stays to help pack the centerpieces, save the bride’s bouquet, and generally clean the site usually well after midnight…she still loves it every time. Even though it leaves her exhausted and sore from the long day, she still arrives home with a smile on her face and a new story to tell the next time someone asks “So what do you do?”

Even further, that original passion for weddings has spilled over to a love for event and party planning as well. While there isn’t always a couple in love planning their dream wedding and the people around may not be related by blood, a great event can make everyone feel like family. It honestly starts the same way: someone reaches out to a planner with a dream, and that vision gets tweaked, modified, expanded, and then perfected.

So what does Megan Cecelia do? From that little girl’s dream following her dad around, to Weddings & Events by Megan Cecelia…her job is to bring your dream to life. Whether it’s the perfect day with your future husband/wife or the event of the year that the company will be talking about until the next one. She wants to help make it the best day or night that you always imagined it could be.
